DESCRIPTION:

NPEF seeks a dynamic professional to provide leadership for our rapidly growing organization. The executive director is responsible for raising funds to meet increasingly critical financial needs for the Northshore public schools community. This is a vital role at NPEF – one that demands the following characteristics: fresh thinking, ability to motivate others, and timely follow-through of fundraising programs and tactics. The executive director will implement and streamline current fundraising programs, and identify new fundraising strategies. The executive director will actively manage the foundation, and report to the NPEF Board of Directors. This is an excellent opportunity to elevate a successful nonprofit foundation taking it to the next level.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and implement plans that address NPEF’s overarching strategy in addition to fueling growth of the organization in accordance with the foundation’s mission and vision. The organization is seeking a person who can build on current momentum and propel the foundation toward significant growth.

Develop and update the development plan, including annual and long-range goals for fundraising.

Oversee the financial health of the foundation and act in accordance with the financial governance stipulated by the Board of Directors.

Develop corporate partnerships and sponsorships beneficial to the foundation’s mission and growth objectives.

Work with the NPEF board to cultivate a growing individual donor base.

Oversee management of annual fundraising events: recruit, motivate and support fundraising chairs, engage/manage the board, and encourage community involvement

Successfully cultivate relationships, and work collectively in a cooperative team environment of staff, volunteer and board members.

Represent the foundation in the community and at donor meetings and events.

Direct and manage grant writing for funding opportunities. Identify new (grant) funding opportunities.

Report to the Board of Directors and work with board members as necessary outside of meetings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field; advanced degree a plus.

Two + years experience at the executive level in nonprofit fundraising

Demonstrated skills/experience in strategic planning and analysis, project and event management, donor cultivation, annual giving, budget management, grant acquisition.

Passion for education and/or an awareness of current educational issues.

Proven ability to raise funds through multiple channels/pipelines.

Demonstrated ability to secure and manage volunteers.

Excellent presentation, communication and human relations skills, marketing and writing skills.

Commitment to working in a nonprofit, mission-driven environment.

Computer skills including Microsoft Office, accounting software and fundraising database programs.

Experience working with boards and volunteers helpful.

Experience in organization with $500,000 budget helpful.

Understanding of K-12 education funding helpful.

Knowledge of local education community helpful.

 

COMPENSATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Full-time, schedule flexible, some evening meetings and events.
